ROY ETTINGER: HANDS-ON ARCHITECT, BUILDER & INSPECTOR - PORTLAND, OR

Roy Ettinger in an architect and builder who brings over 40 years of experience and expertise to the three businesses he owns and operates in Portland, Oregon.
Roy is a graduate of the Syracuse University School of Architecture and spent his early professional years as one of the assistant regional architects for the US Forest Service in San Francisco, California. While with the Forest Services he received several awards for his firefighting unit and visitor center designs and gained valuable familiarity with governmental policies and procedures. In 1977, Roy moved to Portland, Oregon with his family and set up a multi-faceted, private practice that he continues to develop to this day.
As a one-man firm, Roy has personally designed and constructed a multitude of both residential and commercial projects. His work has been published in the San Francisco Chronicle and Oregonian newspapers and in Sunset, Better Homes and Gardens, Homeowner, Metal Architecture, and Building Systems magazines.

As owner of Geometrix Architecture and Geometrix Construction, LLC, Roy blends his extraordinary skills as a designer with his hands-on experience as a contractor, to create unique, well-built structures with an artistic flair, loved by all who live in them.

Roy brings all of this experience to Housecheck Building Inspection, LLC where he has inspected over 5,000 houses, apartments, commercial buildings, and industrial buildings over the years. This gives clients peace of mind when making their most important investments.
Additionally, Roy incorporates alternative framing techniques when possible that are both economical and environmentally sound. This has given birth to a division of Geometrix Architecture called Super Steel Structures, a steel frame, post and beam, site-built, building system that is simple, straight, strong, seismic, fast, cost effective and attractive.
Roy brings expertise in design, working drawings, detailing, seismic needs & construction, and contract administration. He also has broad familiarity with state codes, ADA requirements, fire and life safety issues, and extensive experience working with city planning departments in several locations in the Portland area.
